My laser seems to be having trouble moving. It wants to move but it almost seems like its jammed and its not. I updated my lightburn software and as soon as i did that the problem started. Im wondering if I can somehow reset the program or if its a common issue. Im using the latest update on lightburn.
Lightburn will not change your machine parameters unless you tell it to.
You assembled the S30, right? Did you do the “Tilt Test”. You do not have to look it up:
- With the gantry fully forward, tilt the frame 45 degrees. The gantry should slowly fall all the way to the back without any jerkiness or stutters.
- With the trolley (laser module mounted on it) fully left, tilt the frame so the trolley travels to the right. Same rul for this one.
- If either binds up, or falls freely, adjust belt tension.
Then do the Squareness Test:
- Measure across the diagonals (cross corners) of the frame. They should measure identical. A1/8” difference is too much.
- Once the frame is confirmed square, push the gantry all the way back and release it. Both sides should be exactly the same distance from the frame. If not, it means the timing belt teeth are sllightly offset, meaning the gantry is tracking slightly crooked. I fiddled with the belt adjustments on mine, but it is easier if you can loosen the set screw on the coupling at the cross-shaft to make your correction.

To set up everything, literally start fresh. I lost everything.
You will have to change the max traavel to compensate for the 20w module (mine is 10w), but the rest of the settings should work.

I probably do not need to tell you the importance of backup copies. You can do that in the Machine Settings window.
I have everything working now i think. But now i have that fixed i cant seem to het my laser working. When i hit start it wouldn’t put out power (laser) yet it moves. It wouldn’t do it even when i hit fire or when i jave fire on during framing. Wondering if it could be something in the software?
Show Last Position in the Laser window.
Device Settings, Basic Settings tab, S-value Max should be 1000. If this is not the problem, start checking for loose connectors and broken wires between the laser module and the controller board.
