Im a real greenhorn. Ive never had any problems with my stock s30, but I installed a rail expansion kit 935x905mm and now I think Im setting myself up for issues. The first thing Ive noticed is that compared to my stock machine , the laser head seems quite stiff to move back and forth by hand, Ive tried loosening the belt but it made no difference….I just don’t know if its normal because of the extra motor or not.
Also after getting into it I realize Im going to have to set it up to work with the new kit, but Im kinda paranoid and unsure of exactly how to do this in the Lightburn software
Would anyone be able to instruct me on how to achieve correct operation with this kit? This would be utmostly appreciated
No instructions for the extension kit? Assembly and adjustment should be provided. You will also have to change the MAX travel GRBL parameter for the Yaxis.
This caught my attention. If it’s stuck with the belt loose, in my opinion, it will likely be due to excessive tension in the bearings. It could also be a misalignment, either in the bearing assembly or in the frame itself. Is the frame perfectly square?
Thanks for the reply, there are no written instructions that come withe kit, it recommends watching the video..which I have, many times but the video doesn’t go into detail on how to set up the software parameters ect, it just shows them clicking thru a bunch of stuff way too quickly no speaking just goofy music, I couldn’t make any sense of it from the video, the assembly itself was ok
Thank you for your reply . The preceived problem is on the x axis (the gantry). So the frame alignment does not come into play .I can take the gantry right off the frame and try and slide the laser head back and forth, but it seems way harder to move than the old one that I have taken off, which has basically no friction what so ever
