Sculpfun s30 stops midway

Hey!

I’ve got a sculpfun s30 and the last couple of days it stops somewhere during a cut. There is no specific console out, it just shows:
Layer C03 Pass 1 of 2
Layer C03 Pass 2 of 2
Layer C03 Pass 1 of 2
Layer C03 Pass 2 of 2
Layer C03 Pass 1 of 2
Layer C03 Pass 2 of 2

and then it stops. So nothing about communication loss & timer runs through as if it’s working. The only thing changed is that it’s getting spring here and the sun starts shining more and more. The laser is at a window so I’m suspecting it stops due to potential overheating. Is there any way I can check this using lightburn?

Thanks,

No, there is no feedback in this regard from the laser. Though I don’t think it’s an overheating issue, I very rarely come across such an issue. I’s suspect it’s an electrical / interference issue, this is the most common case. Maybe an AC starts, which creates a power spike in the power line. Or can you exclude such cause? Here are some more mentioned: Guide to mechanical adjustments and maintenance

But then you would expect an error in Lightburn console right? There is an extension cord with surge protection in between, that should catch I would expect?

I had a similar problem with my S9, it as caused by the gantry harness as it dragged across the USB cable, A seller supplied cable. The cable is gone and so is my intermittent problem.

Not necessarily. It depends on what part of the communication is dropped.

No, those usually just catch high power spikes, but not the ripples that are caused by other devices. You would need an EMI filter to protect your device. But before buying that, you could try to use different USB cords and power outlets to test if it’s the issue overall.
