Hardware issues with machine and light burn
Trying to figure out if my laser is broken or is it something else. I was burning on the cutting board, the machine was still moving but the beam was coming out. How do I figure out of it is a connection issue, replacement part issues or I need ro buy a new laser?
Image below is the machined turned on. I hit the test fire but no beam comes out.

But still no beam.

Going from working fine to not at all is not likely. The laser, especially one with multiple diodes in it, does not fail all at once.
- Does the cooling fan on the top of the laser run?
- With the fire button activated, Jog the module aroun the frame area, doing the borders and the middle. Does the laser beam come on during any of that movement?
What I am suspecting is either a broken wire or loose plug connection.
Maybe it’s just the protective lens you cleaned? I’ll disassemble the lens again (turn off the machine!) use a mirror to look at the bottom of the laser head. You have to rule out that it’s not a lens problem, then it’s troubleshooting of the electrical system, loose connectors, broken cable…
The cooling fan is still on on top.
When I jog it around the board there is no beam showing
These are pictures of the lense off
Do you have a voltmeter and experience? If not, you may need help locally.
With the Test button activated, there should be +24 volts between the red and black pins (wires) on the laser plug.
No voltmeter.. and not experience enough to take apart. Who would I go to if I were to reach out for help. I don’t thing the best buy geek squad would know how to fix lasers.
Do not know where you are located, but nearly every country has Ham Radio (Amateur Radio) operatord that would be qualified.
If you are in US, Message me with city and state and I might be able to help.
If the head does not emit any light anymore, it’s usually caused by a broken signal cable. Did you fix it properly to the frame? Check the connector, if it is still conducting.
Ok update on the sculpfun S30 ultra-22w Machine. I got a hold of customer care with Sculpfun to see if I can get support. I ended up getting a new motherboard but I still am not getting a beam.
So I was told to switch the red connector that was plugged into the red port “G TTL S” to the white port Labeled “5V” then Turn the machine on. When I did that the Beam Turned on..
So I got a new motherboard, re-plugged the wires into the same location. Turn on the machine and still no beam.
I did notice the lights turning on were different colors from red and blue on the motherboard from the old motherboard to the new one. Don’t know if that makes a difference. Any help is appreciated .
I attached Videos links here of the machine running but No beam coming out:

Using this test, you made sure that the laser module and the wires are OK. Since you also tested two mainboards, it’s very unlikely that the issue is coming from the hardware.
Which settings did you use? Maybe try to create another device in LB from scratch, adding the laser again (manually, do not use automatic recognition) and then try again.
Ok i have delete the device and manually added it again. So now I am getting a beam but nothing is burning on the wood.
When them machine turns on there is no beam, then it will blink and after a few blinks the beam is in but nothing is burning.
At the setting I put it at I should get a burn.
Speed 200 - Power 80 - Pass 3
Before it stopped working that slow speed and high power wpuld definitely burn.
I attached a pic of the setting and ill add a video of the laser .
This video was 1st when I i connected it and deleted the device and manually connected it back to light burn.
This video was me reconnecting every wire again After the beam wasn’t burning on the wood. Now no beam comes out
That’s indeed slow enough
Did you clean the lens already? Did you do the wall test to check how the beam spot looks like?
Yes i cleaned it and even tried with a new lens. How would I do a wall test?
