This is an interesting problem.
Is the USB cable a new, short, shielded one with Ferrite beads?
Are you using a USB hub or any kind of splitter?
The strange ‘unknown character’ symbols are steering me toward interference of some kind fouling up the communication.
There’s a switch on the right hand side of the console window that says ‘Show all’.
If you repeat one of the halting projects on a scrap board, with that swtich on, we might be able to see what the communication stream looked like if/when it halts again next time.
If you copy and paste the info from the Console window we might also get more information on the unusual characters you’re seeing as well.
I had the exact same problem…
It turned out that this was a serial communication issue.
I found this thanks to octoprint (with fake acknowledgment I was able to resume de cut manually, each time the S9 send a “ill formed” message…)
Anyway, the problem was solved when I manually pressed the USB cable into the S9, during the cut.
Clearly the S9 USB connector is bad quality… Now I need to change it. Disappointing.
