Hi all,
I’m having a strange problem with my Sculpfun s9. It’s engraving fine but when it goes to the cut layer the head goes 1mm out on the X axis meaning that my text or image is no longer centralised. It’s also slipping 1mm each time I repeat a project (eg making a set of coasters, the last one is 6mm to the right of the first !
I’ve checked the tensions of both the X and Y straps and they’re fine.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks
Your example sounds like the one in our troubleshooting guide:
I would work your way down this list to rule out mechanical issues as the cause:
Are you using the settings recommended by the manufacturer?
Hi Jess
Thanks for responding. However, as I said, I’ve already checked the tension belts and the machine is set up exactly to the manufacturer’s instructions (I’d already read the troubleshooter that you mentioned).
It’s almost as if the head is not quite going back to zero (the sculpfun s9 has no “Home” setting- 0/0 is where the head is when the device is turned on). It’s sitting on a fixed, level, surface so there appears to be no mechanical reason for the shift.

Load this file, sacle it proportionately to fit your bed and run it at high speed with just enough power to get a good mark on cardboard. Any discrepancies from the file will indicate machanical problems. Upload a photo of the results so we can look with you.
