Sculpfun S9 wont stay in working area

  • What machine do you have?

Sculpfun S9

Lazer GRBL

  • Are you running the latest version of LightBurn?
    Yes

  • Is the issue new, or has it happened before? What kind of computer is it, and what Operating System is it running?

New.

I have been using lightburn and my S9 successfully for 9 months. I just added the extension kit to 900mm x 400mm, and then added branded limit switches and the optional camera. I couldnt get the limit switches to work properly and then realised that the camera will not work with the extension kit. I therefore decided to remove the limit switches - unplugging them from the motherboard.

Since then the S9 will not rehome and wants to travel outside of the x and y axis, grinding against the frame. If I sent it to origin it moves towards the middle of the bed.

I have tried to reset lightburn settings to those pre-switch install and have been reading many forums and have found no real advice as to how to correct this.

I just want the S9 to work in the original mode without limit switches or camera and on the larger bed.

Im sure there’s something simple that Im just not doing right. Hopefully someone can help me out and get me up and running again.

Many thanks in advance.

Without limit switches, it can’t home. Never use any of those functions. There is no origin then, the zero position is where it was sitting when you turned it on.

If you don’t use limit switches, always use “current position” as start position and manually move the laser head where it should start. You need to make sure that your project is not larger then the work area.

Did you set the new workspace size in the firmware as well? It’s more then setting it in LB device settings. See these guides:

Additionally, I recommend reading this, this should help you adding the limit switches (which is easy and makes a lot of sense):
