I’m having a really tough time getting what seems to be a simple command to work. All I want to do is trim the circles to the rectangle so the remaining arcs can be filled in. It’s not letting me trim circles just the lines. Am I missing something? All I need is the upper arc and the lower arc. I know my CAD experience is making this difficult for me because I’m so used to it. i went so far as to bring this to work, do it in CAD then export to DXF, but the DXF would not import properly. I tried just doing the arc and offsetting but that had its whole other issues. Perhaps someone has a good example in a tutorial they know of and could share?
Select the two circles, then Shift+Select the rectangle, then Tools > Cut Shapes.
This is sensitive to whether they are filled or not - If you cut filled shapes they’ll be closed automatically. If they’re open shapes, the results will be left open.
You could also do this by selecting the two circles and grouping them into a single object, then using Boolean Difference to subtract the rectangle from the loop. Group the two circles, select the resulting group, Shift+select the rectangle, then click Boolean Difference (subtracts the second shape from the first).
THANKS VERY MUCH, I’MN SO GRATEFUL FOR THE HELP! Im reviewing the Boolean tutorial now.
