Set width to all marked objects

Hello, I would like to know if I an set a width or height to all marked objects.

For example: I have 5 text objects with different content and I want, that they have all the same width. So I need to click every single one and set the width.
Maybe there is an easier way?

Thanks, Holger

yep. you have to set the widths for each.

Select all items you wish to change, then click “make selected items same width”.

Not sure location if default toolbars, but mine shows along the top, right 3/4.

MakeSameButtons

This method appears to stretch/compress each item to the median width of all selected, so there will be distortion. Anything narrower than median will be elongated and anything wider than median will be compressed.

If you want the letters to maintain original geometry but change spacing (like justified spacing in a word processor), I believe you’ll have to do this manually with each text entry.

that is in the Arrange (long) tool bar.

It’s one of those tools that looks like it would come in handy some day but never gets used.

Indeed. I’ve never used for a finished design, but I do try to at least test most tools so I have an idea of what’s possible.

Thank you very much for this link.
Holding SHIFT while clicking one of these buttons will preserve the aspect ratio of the selected items while resizing.
Exactly what I am searching for.

AMAZING
:grinning:

I didn’t know the “shift trick”. There is SO MUCH this software offers… Every button and toggle needs a full page tooltip to cover it all!

The shift trick was written under the link you postet

LightBurn 1.5 has a new feature in shape properties to retain the same size for text objects and either retain the aspect ration (reduce text size) or squeeze the text:

Both texts here have set a maximum width of 150 and I typed some more text into the second one.

It’s even better:

These buttons will set all objects in the selection to the same width or height as the last selected item.

As with so many tools that operate on selections, the sequence matters.

Well. How. About. That. !

I just fumble around clicking everything. I should probably take my own advice and actually read the entirety of the help docs. They’re just so hard to navigate in that way.
