Setting and using Rotary

Hello, dear Lightburn community.

I am new here and looking to ask and possibly get some assistance.

I recently purchased an S30 5w (not the pro) machine, and I understand some essential functio

ns. I am struggling to get to grips with engraving using the rotary machine. I have often gone through the rotary set-up instructions but cannot get the engraved finished effect for any design I use.

I have used, to practice on, a drinks flask and food flask, but the prints are not etching; I use SVG’s, reduce the sizes, etc, but I do not understand the problem, if any. I appreciate that because it is a 5W output module, but perhaps it does not have the power, or I am getting this badly wrong.

Attached are some images; help and advice are greatly appreciated.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

5W is usually enough to etch most of the objects you show here. But it’s a matter of settings, please show them as well.

In general, you didn’t set up the rotary correctly, refer to this guide: Rotary roller - Diode Laser Wiki

Regarding settings, check here: Settings guide - Diode Laser Wiki

Hi Melvin,
Thank you for your reply and for pointing out that there is a bit more I need to learn and explore in getting this right. Attached are the settings currently in my software. I will study the link you sent and hopefully get this right, and add weight to stabilise the movement.

If there is anything in the settings I can adjust/change, please advise. Thank you once again.
