When I drop ‘items’ into LIGHTBURN, or create some verbiage, the program sets a speed, power & pass count. Are these arbitrary numbers or is there a rhyme & reason behind them.
Depending how you’ve set this up it will be one of two things:
- The last settings set for that layer
- The default that you’ve defined for that layer
- When you open a file made for another machine, the layer parameters will also be “wrong” for your machine. (Except if you have the exact same machine.)
It can be fatal if the power setting is set to 100% and your own max is 60% and you are not aware of it.
Number of passes, kerf setting, speeds, power…everything from this layer/file is saved in your machine until the next time you use this layer. “Reset to default” of layers when you start something new is probably the best way to “protect” yourself against this kind of accident.
