I’ve looked around and watched the videos that talk about the $30 g-code command about Spindle Speed…
It refers to setting the Machine Speed setting to that in LightBurn
so they match and when you set your Power to 50% in LB it matches that in the Machine Settings…
It was a good video but the RUIDA does not do the Console G-code…
So it must have been on a Laser that had a different controller…
Ok referring this to as laser power instead of cnc drill speed, is what they are talking about,
The video I watched actually shows the S30 in the Machine settings and the Device settings
I have a Monport 130w Ruida controller and when I look at the Machine settings, I assume it is under the U-Axis there is nothing about Spindle Speed or S30 but did find a Power setting, so I have to assume this is it.
Now in LB the S-Value MAX setting is not found…
You don’t have to care about all this. As parsec mentioned, this is for grbl-based devices. Those were developed initially to run CNCs and were adapted to lasers. And they base on a different hardware design. Ruida controllers are laser controllers that do not have / need that option.
It doesn’t, at least for CO₂ lasers with Ruida controllers, simply because they do not use G-Code and, thus, do not have an S command to adjust the spindle speed / laser power and lack the entire list of $ configuration parameters.
Not a specific issue, new to lasers and was following up on a video discussing the mismatch on the $30 spindle values that could cause power discrepancies.
Was not sure if it applied to CO2 lasers… curiosity…
The relationship of power to spindle speed in GRBL is predominately a legacy vestige to GRBL’s origin as a CNC controller.
Ruida controllers are purpose built controllers for laser function. There are related concepts that can control min/max power or narrow the accessible power range on these commodity CO2 lasers and are fairly well discussed in the forum if you are curious.
