I have tried searching but found some of the information a little confusing.
We have a new 80w desktop laser and have recently finished aligning it properly.
I’m a little concerned about the max power of pulses so I set the max power setting down to 40% in the ruida controller. Does this control pulses?
Secondly, are the settings pulled from lightburn controlled by this max power ? So if the power was set at 70% in lightburn it would actually be using 70% of 40%?
Finally how can I find out the max power of my PSU? Or should I just check with our manufacturer?
I was advised, from a good source, to use this procedure…
With a 50% power setting, adjust the lps for 50% of what you want to be maximum power. If your maximum power limit is 16mA, adjust the internal lps control to 8mA. Using 50% control makes sure you don’t drive the tube too high. There is no reason to run 100% when adjusting these.
Once that is set, then the power percentage set in Lightburn will equate to the actual mA. Tubes are not exactly linear, so limit your expectations.
These adjustments can be in odd locations… Mine is terrible to get to and adjust…
If you wish wattage, then you have to know where your wattages peaks. 100% current doesn’t necessarily relate to 100% wattage out. It think a watt based scale is better, but you have to use some way to check the power. Many use thick acrylic, I have a watt meter.
Make sense?
These are rarely printed on the placard on the lps. You usually have to go to the site and see what it’s capable of. A 50W will have a lower voltage and current than an 80W, generally speaking.
