Setting stock dimensions from imported file

Is there any way to have your stock size defined by your imported drawing? Maybe when you import a drawing, it can pre-fill out your stock size from your objects bounding box? Or maybe a feature that allows you to pick geometry in the viewport to set your stock size?

Thanks,

I do not think Lightburn, or your drawing source, could know how big a block of wood or other material you have in stock. Your part program parameters would define only the minimum dimensions, but not the overall size of your material block.

There isn’t a way to do that at the moment, but it likely wouldn’t be too hard to add a function for that.

Suggest it here: https://millmage.fider.io/

That would be cool! MillMage telling me what board to look for.

I guess I should have been more specific. This would obviously be in 2 dimensions. You would need to specify your stock Z thickness. This is a common behavior in other CAM software.

2 hrs later still measuring every scrap piece of wood

All three dimensions would be in the imported file. All you would need to add is the amount to ensure you do not cut air or the spoilboard.

How are you getting a Z dimension from a 2-D file format?
