Settings for cutting Delrin?

I wanted to see if anyone could help, I have a creality falcon 2 (22W) and am trying to get the settings to engrave/cut a 1/2 inch sheet of Delrin plastic. Thank you!

It’s finicky and prone to burning, and most shared maker labs do not allow it to be cut on the lab machines. It is also best cut with CO2 machines. - - Google

If you notice. they recommend a good ventilation system as it produces formaldehyde gas.

Hate to say it but Delrin is better left to a CNC or water jetting. Laser is just not kind to that material and the off-gassing can be harmful to both you and the machine.

What is the use case that you have to use Delrin? Can you possibly use another material or have some other means of cutting it besides the laser?

Hey all, thanks to everyone for their feedback. I did also hear about the toxic fumes issue, that’s enough to cause me to work on an entirely different project. The original intent was to create leatherworking stamps out of the delrin. I’m aware that you can laser directly on leather, I was hoping to create and sell the stamps.

Maybe there is a safer material, but instead I can start off by engraving wood. I will be trying to engrave wood pizza peels now. What I’d be ordering is pinewood.

If anyone has any additional feedback, it’s not expected but surely appreciated, I’m a complete beginner and will absorb as much info as I can. Especially if it’s additional thoughts on creating leather stamps, engraving wood, beginner friendly projects ect. Big thanks!

There are a ton of how to videos on youtube on how to make leather embossing stamps… might want to check it out.

Good luck

I’ve cut Acetal (Delrin) with good success… but on a 130 watt CO2 machine with a full exhaust system.

I hit it hot and fast, its a bit melty. For a Falcon you’ll need VERY thin stock to cut it effectively.
