Apologies if this question has been answered but i couldnt find it. i want to disable the always on low pressure function of the SF-A9 air pump. Can this be done in the software? i find im getting a lot of soot on my engravings because the air is on, even at the low setting, and when i disconnect the pump my engravings are clean.
According to this excellent summary of the SF-A9 from @misken , there is a Firmware setting for this!
Try entering this command in the Console Window and press enter:
$air=0
You should be able to completely turn off the air assist here:
Edit: The default is 0.18 and it may only go from 0.1-1.
It’s a shot in the dark as I don’t have the same machine but try this command instead if the other value doesn’t work: $air=0.1
air=0.1 would be worth trying first since it’s less than default low air at 0.18? and a little air is probably better than no air.
If $air=0 is not a valid setting, and you want all or nothing then you would probably have to change the wiring to put the whole pump on a relay to come on with the air assist signal, with no residual low air at all.
Another option is to alter the nozzle aperture to be slightly larger (if possible), or if not T in a little bleeder valve somewhere in the airline to further reduce the air flow without having to disconnect the pump or change any of the electrics.
Thanks for that, i’ll give it a try. Do you know how this will affect the air assist when i switch it on in the Cuts/Layers panel? I still want to be able to use full air assist when cutting.
This switch in Lightburn does not disable low air. It only disables high air.
@NicholasL is right, it should not be turned off completely.
Thanks for the help guys, i reduced the air to 0.1 and that has fixed the problem.
