Just out of curiosity. Does anybody know of a good video explaining the science behind a CO2 laser tube?

I understand the basics but I’m curious to learn the sience behind the CO2 tubes. I tried searching YouTube, but the only results I get explain how a CO2 laser cutter works. Not the sience behind the tube.

Just so I understand correctly: the type of gas (CO2 in most cutter cases) dictates the wavelength?
