Slow moving laser

For some reason, my sculpfun s30 pro max seems to move too slow when burning regardless of the mm/min I enter. At 9000 mm/min it says something will take 12 minutes but it is up to 25 minutes so far and still 1/4 left to go. Any ideas how to remedy this?

Do you think it’s actually moving at that speed or do you think the estimated time is wrong?
Did you open Additional Settings in the Device Settings window and click Read From Controller? That wil load settings from your machine for Lightburn to get a more accurate job time estimate in the preview.

The S30 Pro Max has a maximum speed from the factory of 6000 mm/min. It will not run faster, no matter what you tell it to. And for this laser, this is a good maximum speed value overall. You can go up to 10,000 (by changing the firmware defaults), but then you need to carefully tune your mechanics before.

it definitely seems to not be moving at the speeds it used to. All of the cables have good tension and everything moves freely without binding.

My problem is, regardless of the speed I ask for, it seems to run at only one speed now… slow.

The settings in your screenshot are not correct. Click on read from controller to update them. This will not change the speeds, but correct the preview times.

And it was running faster? Send $$ in the console and post the output. Maybe some settings have been changed accidentally.

Yes it was much faster. I was able to burn a 10x12 portrait at 590dpi in under an hour

Another place where you are trying to exceed the capabilities of the machine. Your 20w head is not capable of 590DPI (or LPI). I suspect if you change it to something like 280LPI (0.09mm interval), you will get much shorter burn times.

At that higher number, you are seriously overlapping the previous passes.

Those settings look ok. Show the LightBurn settings you used.
And Mike is correct, your DPI is insanely high. The Pro Max is more like 0.1-0.12 in size, so below 200 DPI should be the target value. But just do an interval test to check it out precisely.
