Hi all
Snapmaker Ray 2wIR and integrated control box.
Just second day using 2wIR after using 20w for past six months…no issues.
Dont know how to say it, but something didnt feel right since swapping modules…nothing major, just a little odd.
I started my machine as usual today and all was ok till I got back from dinner and restarted again.
Machine made stressful noise on framing.
Stopped machine and checked for obstructions, all ok.
Homed but not quite properly and long beeped with red light indicator flashing
Re started and framed but things were getting weird.
LB console reporting Alarm1, lost position, Hard limit…, Re home message repeating constantly. while module is still framing.
Shut down all and re started but issues continue…beeps, red light flashing, cranky movement, fan in control box turning off and on repeatedly.
After thinking the control box was the issue I considered the usb connection…gave it a wee wiggle and the alarm beeped (Coincidence!) so swapped mouse and machine ports but no improvement.
Swapped back restarted…no improvement.
Turned all off and went to send email to SM Support and thinking they’d want video and remembering the camera isnt working because I didnt update software last week…I went about updating. While that was happening I switched on to check one more time and low and behold it went ok.
So..my question is, Can a dodgy usb cable affect the control box internal fan. I would have thought Not, as that comes on regardless of laptop being connected.
The havock was so varied I deeply suspect the cable and seeing how its been plugged in and out every day for six months (in fairness it is a very robust cable) and the laptop is second hand so lots of ware on that side too.
I have emailed SM Support for opinions.
