Snapmaker Ray sometimes accelerating pretty rough

I don’t yet know which category is right for this issue:

When I start cutting, my Snapmaker Ray recently accelerates to the first cutting-position with a hard beat where it obviously looses one or more steps and cuts therefore aside of the correct position. This happens only rarely, but in the meantime already about 4-5 times. I stop it immediately to prevent damages, but it would continue cutting.

The message in the console is the Alarm 3 - reset while in motion. GRBLcannot guarantee position. Lost steps are likely. Re-homing is highly recommended.

After that, I usually move it back to home and it starts fine again. I have the impression that it rather happens when I start cutting from a position very close to the first cutting position, and not when I start it from the home position.

What could be the reason for that ?

I thought to reduce the acceleration but could not yet find the right field for that.

Many thanks and kind regards

Franz

If with “I stop it immediately to prevent damage,” you mean you press the “Stop” button in the “Laser” window, then alarm 3 is normal. This always happens because the “Stop” button is interpreted as an emergency, stopping the machine immediately without guaranteeing its position.

In version 2.0.05 I believe it’s here.
In this seat I only have one controller board connected (without a machine) just for demonstrations like this.

GRBL has parameters for setting the maximum acceleration rate, but your maximum speed could be too high as well. Before changing ANYTHING, save a copy of the settings using the Machine Settings window.

So we can examine your settings, enter $$ in the Console window. Copy / paste everything after the $$ in a Reply.
