Hello everyone.
There’s been a thread about the laser position on the screen after updating to version 2.0.
My question is whether it’s possible to add an additional option in Lightburn so that the laser position on the screen can be selected, as in version 1 of Lightburn, based on the specified laser position, not the controller’s response.
Many people use devices that don’t provide feedback on the laser position. And I have to admit, this is an EXTREMELY important feature for me.
After updating to 2.0, I can’t work normally, so if it doesn’t require a significant investment, I and many other users would be incredibly grateful.
I wasn’t referring specifically to version 1.0, but rather to 1.7.08, where the head position indicator on the screen was located where the cursor was stuck. Since version 2.0.0, this indicator appears on the screen only after feedback from the controller. I need this because in most cases, I don’t use the plotter to cut from a board that occupies the entire workspace, and the material already has cut spots. So, I first position the laser head on the table in the desired location, and only then can I place the graphic on the screen in the desired location. And for this, I need this indicator on the screen to position it in the correct place.
Here is the answer I got from Lightburn support:
“In 1.7.08: LightBurn assumes the machine went where it was told, and the crosshairs moved based on commands sent, not actual device feedback. In V2.0+ the position indicator is updated only using actual position values returned by the controller. It appears that the controller isn’t reporting the actual position values.”
That’s why I’m asking if it’s possible to add an additional option that would allow you to select the laser position on the screen between the “indicated” position and the position that is feedback from the controller.
If you do it like this, the selected object is lasered EXACTLY at the position the laser is currently. You don’t need to move around the graphic, etc. You can move the laser head manually to the desired position and click on start, then your object will be placed exactly where you want it to be (=where you moved the head to). There is no need to see the position in the workspace window.
Of course, change the Job Origin to the position you moved the laser head to, you can also use the center or another corner.
This is exactly how I have been doing it for a long time. This is how I turn my scrap wood into scrap-scrap wood. I do not understand why the “+” indicator is in the wrong place. My only issue is moving the nozzle to exactly where I want it to be so everything Framed is on the wood scrap.
