Some wavy letters

The project am working on ended up with some wavy letters and not sure why. I am running a Ortur LM3 with a 10 watt laser (true 10 watt output) on Windows. Two things: 1.This was a long burn, about 5 1/2 hours, but I did stop it once for about 30-45 minutes to let the laser cool down. 2. I had the fast whitespace scan at 300 in/min. Could a long burn plus a fast whitespace scan cause this?

Not likely. You can see the problem in your first stripe. It’s most likely play in your X axis. I had a similar issue on my diode and found the set screws on the x motor shaft were not tight enough allowing slippage. Check everything for play. I went through mine 3 times before finding the loose set screws.

This should help. It was written for a Sculpfun laser, but they all are very similar.

Thank you,Tim, I’ll check that in the morning.

I think that fast white space scan could exacerbate a slipage issue, or even just a minor backlash issue, by introducing accelerations/deccelations “all over the place”.

I think you might be right. After I do what Tim suggested I’ll run a test of different fast whitespace scan speeds and see what happens.
