why does the engrave time increase when I raise the speed and power settings? engraved a 18x15" logo on ash with speed 350 and power 35/30 and it took 30 min… when we raised the speed and power it tripled the time in the preview window. we have a 70 watt boss co2. trying to find a way to speed up the process. just confused on why the engage time increases when speed is raised… I am waiting for a response from boss laser as well…
You didn’t say how much you increased it but the laser has to travel farther beyond your graphic to get up to speed. Look at the preview with “show traversal moves” turned on with both settings and note the difference in travel.
This is a preview view, the rectangle is the same size in each photo, but you can see the red overscan.
This is the area it takes to slow down, stop, reverse directions and speed back up…
@thelmuth suggestion will show this, here is an example.
Notice the difference in time for each of them… The fast scan spends more time slowing down, changing directions and speeding back up than it does over the work area actually doing something.
Speed isn’t everything and you can easily outrun your lps response time, creating it’s own issues. The green box in the left screenshot, is actually the defined work area …
If you want a quicker job time, figure out how to realistically increase the machines acceleration values…
I have a lightweight head on mine, without the lens/tube, it weighs about 100g. It’s acceleration is around 50000mm/s^2 compared to the normal acceleration limits of around 3000 to 8000mm/s^2
Good luck
Thank you very much. This answered my question. Yeah I was aware about the red versus dark green area. However, you explained it very well thank you and offered some great suggestions. Thank you again. It definitely helps us.
