Just a quick question to see if the feature exists, if it doesn’t I will add it to the feature suggestions list.
Background:
We run 5 different c02 machines, 7 tubes in all. All the tubes have their own optimal settings for the variety of materials and thicknesses that we run every day.
Currently we have a list stuck to the wall behind the computer the the optimal power / speed setting for each machine and head, and once we open a file we change the power and speed settings accordingly to the machine we are about to send the file to.
Question:
Does Lightburn have a feature that I can create a catalogue of “Materials” such as 3mm Mdf, 6mm Mdf, 3mm Acrylic, 10mm Acrylic, 1mm Pet, Engrave etc, and under each material selection have the ability to select a laser and enter in its default settings for a colour?
I have searched the manual and the forum, and the program for such a feature, but I didn’t find it. So it’s either not there, or as the wife says, I only had a man look.
Solution:
If this feature doesn’t exist, I would like to add it to the suggested features. Even if it breaks off into a “Pro” version of Lightburn for use in commercial workshops, as that is what we are, and maybe the average use wouldn’t need such settings.
But the general idea is to have a column, tab, drop down menu or panel that sits around or beside the power settings toolbar that allows you to select the material that you are currently cutting.
When the file is loaded, the line colours are detected, as usual, and then the power and speed settings adjust to the machine defaults.
Lightburn will know the machine, as that is already selected, it will know the line colour because of the file and it will know the material because that is the one currently selected. The user can adjust any 3 of the input variables to change the speed/powder settings from the library. If the settings do not exist for a certain combination, either a possibility for an alert to say so, Or just revert to a generic Lightburn default, or simply do not change from the current settings.
