I have a Donut shape, Two circles, with Text between the lines. Is there a way to squeeze the inner circle to compress the text so the dimensions of the donut are 10mm instead of 20? ohh, the text is a traced drawing.
- Ungroup the shapes if they are already grouped
- Select inner circle as well as text
- Use side handles while holding CTRL key to resize; alternatively, set 9-dot control in Numeric Edits toolbar dot to center and change width dimension to 10mm
Doing that pushes the text larger, and outside the outer circle. it’s like I need to somehow constrain the text/path/trace to the outer circle.
This shouldn’t be possible so I must not be understanding the constraints.
Can you upload the .lbrn file or provide a full screenshot of LightBurn showing the design?

- is there a way to lock the aspect to circle?
- I need to squeeze the text smaller using the outside circle as a constraint and using the inside circle, as the donut is too big, I need thinner, but maintaining the font. I’m not sure that is possible, but the confounding thing is why can’t I hold shift or ctrl, and the aspect remain circular and not skew.
Grab the corner handle. Hold CTRL to have resizing done from center of shapes.
I’m having a difficult time visualizing this. Instead of describing the how, can you describe what you hope the final outcome to look like? That may open up other hows not apparent based on the prescribed approach.
I need 10mm from the outer ring to the inner ring. The text is taking too much space, I need to shrink it down.
In that case this is what I’d suggest. The “text” is currently a path shape which reduces the number of options. If you have access to the original text that opens up some other approaches.
- Instead of attempting to change the size of the text, adjust the size of the inner and outer circles until the proportions are what you’d like to see. At this stage, don’t worry about the distance between inner and outer circles.
- Once the proportions are correct, resize the entirety of the such that the distance between the inner and outer circles becomes 10mm. There are multiple ways to do this but let’s take one example
2a. Scale the design by 10mm / (radius of outside circle - radius of inside circle)
I found the Font and just made my own from scratch. Between font size, and diameter I was able to dial it all in. Thanks for the help.
