Stainless steel color changing

Hallo I need help
When trying to change the color on stainless steel, I do not see the same result as in the picture. I adjust the same settings, but it barely leaves a small mark. I use the SCULPFUN S30 Ultra 33W with an air assist.

How did you produce the test blocks?

You should use Laser Tools → Materials Test I did this one on a stainless steel dog tag… this is on a fiber laser, but same idea applies.

Is it in focus?

Are you using the settings that are on the photos?

Is that tag stainless or aluminum?

So I ask, I tried to do the material test, but unfortunately it didn’t work either. Yes, it’s aluminum

You will never get any real color out of aluminum… Only stainless and titanium are really capable of good colors.

You can probably engrave on some types of coated or anodized aluminum, but not any color… and probably not have good results with bare metal.

What problems did you have with the materials test?

I will receive the same pieces tomorrow, but from stainless steel slices. I will test them and tell the result
