I have a comgrow laser that I have had pretty good luck with. I do have an issue that I imagine is a simple fix. Does static in my shop/laser stop my laser from working? I have on a few occasions lately had the laser stop in the middle of an engraving. The laser itself stays on but burns a hole in the location it stops. I have tried grounding the laser but without great success. Has this been a problem and what can I do about it. Its pretty annoying when the laser stops in the middle of a burn.
Grounding the laser would eliminate a static issue. Your problem is often caused my a USB problem. Try re-seating the connectors, using a replacement cable that is shielded and has the RF suppression ferrite (knot) on it. These cost more, but budget cables are cheap for a reason.
