I am having some problems with the noise and grinding from the x-axis. Soundls like mad cow disease! I am using an 17HS24-2104S STEPPER with a DM542T driver. Can not find a smooth setting. Per sepperonline I have added a resonance mount with rubber cushion and it is a considerable amount quieter but still bad.
I usually change my speed a little.
I have tried several speeds. Weird but the y axis is great.
Just a long shot…
but check the driver setting (if any)
make sure they are set to the the recommended by the manufacturer..
this is my system , it has the dip sw setting that are recommended on the stepper motor…
Long shot but, if it gets changed… could be an issue…
I just swapped wiring on x an y and no change. So I looked at some spar stepper motors and the were smoother turning by hand. So I replaced the motor and the x-axis is near perfectly quiet! Wonderful. I have been working on this motor forever.
Thanks for your help
excellent…
I would not have suspected the motor… ususally you go after the electronics
good find, thanks for sharing
Maybe a little history would help us sort this out. I have a Chinese 5030 machine and it has NEMA23 motors in it, so I’m kind of surprised.
Is this a new development?
I’m suspicious as most of these this red/back red sail lasers have some type of dsp controller… you changed it out for a cohesion board?
A video with sound would be great and maybe help clarify what I’m thinking.
Are the driver switches for the X and Y axes set the same?
What are the acceleration values of both X and Y axes?
