only on day 2 of navigating millmage, been lightburn user for 2 years, havent even connected to cnc yet want get head round it before i connect to cnc
so far loving, having the interface the same as LB makes it feels second natural already.
i may be interpreting this wrong but when hovering over stock to leave in profile operation , it says material to leave for final clean up pass.which i assume is a finishing pass.does it automatically do a finish pass after initial cuts and just dosent show in preview window ?
or would i need to create a new operation to do finishing pass with say a smaller bit if i wanted to get into tighter corners.angles asi cant see where i would create a finishing pass with say different tool is this something that is going to be added later ,an option to choose a different finishing tool or am i just missing, seeing it
one thing i think may be handy at later date is on operation panel ,say a job that has multiple operations ones that get set to auto layer the coinciding colour changed the operation symbol, similar to how lightburn is in the cut layer panel when clicking on an object
Unless you used the same tool every time for every material, I would think an automatic finish pass creation is a bad idea. Just wondering, how would MillMage know you needed a finish pass?
The Stock to Leave value is essentially adding a kerf to the project. It is not leaving additional Z depth, but instead leaving an allowance around the path on the inside or outside, whatever is defined in the Profile Operation window.
You must create another Profile operation to clean up the remaining stock - select the existing operation in the Operation Panel and press the ‘Duplicate Operation’ button on the bottom right of the panel to quickly make a copy, then swap the tool out and remove the Stock to Leave.
Or, if you’re just looking to clear up the remaining material in a pocket, you can use the Rest Pocket operation. Otherwise, sticking with the Profile op is the way.
currently use estlcam which gives you option to add finishing tool ,after initial pocket is done which is very handy when doing a large pocket with say a 10mm which can’t get into the tight corners , which works well , i dont see it as a bad idea at all
