Stops at exact same point every time

I have been building a machine with a dlc32 board and a 50W co2 tube.

Ran a few projects succesfully but I have a reaccuring issue.

With one job it keeps stopping at the same point in the process. Lightburn stays “Busy”

What I have tried so far:

  • Changing USB cables
  • Plugging the controlboard into a seperate outlet
  • Running the job at 1% Power.

It also is a regular issue that when it finishes a job it stays “Busy” as well.

Hope someone can help out, thanks!

This is a novel problem.

It could be in the code sent by LightBurn to your laser.
It could be the laser misbehaving when sent properly formed code.

To troubleshoot this, I’d compare the project file, the GCode and the repeated point of failure to start taking the problem apart.

If you’re willing to share them, I’d like to look at the files. You’re welcome to share the files publicly here by dragging them into a reply to this thread. If you need to keep them private, you can send them to me privately here.

In LightBurn, click File, click Save GCode, and save that file somewhere convenient.

In LightBurn, open the Preview window. It’s the ‘flat panel monitor’ icon along the top row. Use the slider bar to locate the point where the project stops and capture the screen.

This is much easier on the eyes than taking a pic with a cel phone.

Please also attach the project file. It has an .lbrn or an .lbrn2 suffix on the end.

With those three things I should be able to make suggestions about next steps.

Looking forward to exploring this further.

Open the console in Lightburn and see if the controller is giving you more information. It may give you a gcode line that it failed.

The console is in the cut/layer area and the console tab might have to be selected in the Window menu.

Follow @JohnJohn instructions, he knows these much better than I.

Thank you both for your responses,

I was going to share all the files just now, but decided to run it once more just to make sure it still stopped at the same point.

It did not, it finnished the whole job haha

But this does happen to me more often, so next time I will grab all those file and throw them in here.

Hello @JohnJohn and @jkwilborn,

It does happen 50% of the times at the end of a job where it stays on busy.

But after the last lucky fix it happened again on the file I opened this topic about so attached are the files you requested. Hope we can find an issue I can fix on the machine or the software!

Thanks in advance,

(Files dont need to be private, but are only to be used for fixing the problem offcourse  )
