I’m working with a ComMarker B6 30w Fiber laser, Windows 11 desktop PC and LightBurn Pro 2.0.05.
For troubleshooting purposes, I have tried:
A. Two different USB B to USB C cables (one with ferrite choke).
B. Using a Dell XPS 13 laptop in place of my desktop PC.
C. Adjusting Jump Speed from 4000 to 500.
D. Adjusting Open MO Delay from 8.000 to 0.
E. Looking for open shapes that need to be closed (for the job file in the attached photo, it was imported as a .jpeg and traced in LightBurn; there were no open shapes detected when using “select open shapes set to fill”).
F. I tried opening the console window but nothing appears and I have no ability to enter any commands.
I have a few year’s experience with CO2 gantry type lasers but am very new to fiber lasers; these are all ideas that I’ve gleaned from this forum and Google searches and at this point I’ve run out of ideas.
I do not have a Fiber machine, cost being the most hindrance. But I can respond to this. I am guessing you have a K40 CO2 machine that runs GRBL. You cannot issue commands to any other type of controller.
The fiber is a whole new ballgame. New settings, more settings to adjust, and blazing sweep speeds. Forget everything you know about diode and CO2 machines and start over. For example, you can have an average power of 20w, but the peak power during a pulse might be 30KW. That is why they can actually engrave metal. It blasts the metal into oblivion!
Keep asking questions, view every video on fiber machines you can find, and read the Lightburn DOCs religiously. Kind of like when you got the first CO2 machine. Oh, wait…
I see you just joined, so welcome to the greatest Forum ever. Be patient, you may not get answers right away, especially for your machine. Fiber, and Galvo, stuff is still fairly new.
Hopefully, somebody can jump in and answer the rest of your questions.
