I’m creating my designs in Adobe Illustrator and noticed something interesting when importing files into MillMage.
If I import the .ai file directly, the design maintains the correct scale and comes in at the proper size.
However, when I export the same design as an SVG, it imports smaller than it should be.
After some testing, I discovered this seems to be related to the “Responsive” setting in Illustrator’s SVG export options. If Responsive is checked, the SVG imports into MillMage at a smaller scale. If I uncheck Responsive, the SVG imports at the correct size.
What’s interesting is that this setting doesn’t seem to affect scale in other programs. I tested the same SVG files in xTool Creative Space, and they import at the correct size whether Responsive is enabled or not.
So this is mostly just an FYI for anyone running into scaling issues with SVGs exported from Illustrator.
If anyone from the MillMage team or the community knows why the Responsive SVG setting causes the scale to change when importing into MillMage, I’d be curious to understand what’s happening there.
