SVG output different in lightburn as in Inkscape

I have a logo file from friend that is provided by the graphic designer that is supposed to be SVG. Opening it in Inkscape looks great as good as a PNG file, but opening in Lightburn suddenly it is a terrible file, can’t see the logo, and it is completely different. I cannot find if it is something I haven’t checked or what is causing it, Never had any SVG opening issues.
I will try to include file and perhaps someone will have time to take a look and help me out,
I am a newbie of course only been doing this for about 1 1/2 months
Thanks
Mike

this is what I get in Lightburn. tried opening it in Vectric and it said some vectors are missing.

Must be a setting issue. This is what I got. Only 2 layers.

I think first was one I saved as regular SGV in Inkscape. My original looks same as above.

The file is fine.
Lightburn doesn’t handle SVG files like an image editor like inkscape or Illustrator does because it’s not an image editor. it’s a tool path editor. If you want to engrave the image you can convert it to a png file and it will display as it does in an image editor like Illustrator or inkscape. I have converted it to a 1200X 1200 16 bit grayscale that is fine to use for a dither or news print engraving.
good luck!
Cheers,
Rob

Thanks, that’s a bummer. Ill try this file, I have been getting poor results with converting to a grayscale, but new to this, Ill try this and see what I get. Thanks you and everyone so much.

It’s all a learning experience. The learning curve is more logrythmic than linear. The more you use the software the easier it is to use.

ok any way to get the square off the background, so that it is just the circle?

Not to nitpick but when someone says “image editor” I think of bitmap tools like Photoshop, Gimp, and the plethora of “paint” programs out there. Illustrator, Inkscape are vector based design tools with SVG formats being their core output. I would tend to put LightBurn in the same category, ie vector based.

Vector vs Raster:
Vector graphics are digital art that is rendered by a computer using a mathematical formula. Raster images are made up of tiny pixels, making them resolution dependent and best used for creating photos.

You can use mask to remove square. Draw circle around image. Select circle and image. Should then have option on right-click menu to apply mask, then flatten.

Worked Like a champ
Thanks for educating me instead of just doing it.
Gives me new ideas and skills
Thanks again

The point I was trying to make is that lightburn is a tool for creating & editing a tool path for a laser and that is why his svg didn’t render the same way it does in Inkscape.

I’d be more inclined to believe it has more similarities with the vector file formats of Inkscape and Illustrator than you’re giving them credit for but I’m thinking her problem is th 1.0.04 version of LightBurn she is using. It’s come a long way from the 1.0.x days back in Oct of 2021.
