Hello, please help!
I am trying to set up a template for 1.5 " disk. I had the laser cut the holes in 1/8’ ply but it will not repeat the location. Every time I try to repeat the hole it changes location a little. The laser is bolted down and 1/8 plywood is screwed to the same surface as the laser.
I am using a Ortur Laser Master 2
This is a pic of my results
There is something moving, it is the only possibility for this error. I use templates very often and have not experienced this misalignment. I assume you have the outer ring also in the same position in LightBurn, all the time and only insert the various new motifs, otherwise it will not work.
Thanks for the response.
I am sending 2 pictures showing how the laser and template are attached to 3/4 plywood I did it before cutting the hole’s. I taped poster board on the template to test it.
I plan to use it like you assumed. I have done a few large images and used over sized wood and cut it down after the burn. Are there any settings that could cause this? Could there be a problem with the Ortur laser?
Sorry, sent wrong pic on last post. Forgot to mention the angle clip are attached to the laser as well as the table.
If everything is fixed and you do not move the template in LightBurn, then only the machine is left.
When I worked with my Eleksmaker, I mounted an air hose in a large arc so that it would not “brake” or disturb the laser head, some time later I found out that the hose had done it anyway, in some areas of my machine bed … .
Are you just re-running the job, without moving the material, and it will not track over the same line?
Or are you moving the part and trying to line it up?
Do you have the ‘Start From’ set to absolute?
As @bernd.dk stated, I use this all the time, with no issues… Something sounds loose…
Hi Jack,
I attached everything before the laser cut the holes. The LightBurn software has not moved.
The start from is set to absolute.
Could the wire covering provided by Otrur be restricting the laser head? It seems to move freely. here is a screen shot of the settings.
Just for clarity, are you saying this is happening all during a single run and single pass?
If so, you’ve for sure got something causing you to miss steps. As you say, the cable could be restricting it if it’s too tight or too short. Can you freely move the laser head through every cover of the machine?
If this is multiple runs, can you explain your process between runs? Are you ever moving the laser head by hand manually (not through jog buttons)? Are you rehoming? Please describe in detail everything that happens between run 1 and run 2.
@berainlb about missed steps. If it is getting some kind of mechanical restriction, it will loose steps and the machine has no way to know that it has happened, so it cannot correct.
Can’t really see the graphic you posted too well…
Good luck
ITS WORKING!
I was going over everything on the machine and discovered the right belt was not quite as tight as the left one, I tightened it and problem solved. What a relief!
My heartfelt thank you to everyone who worked with me to solve this issue.
Till next time, Uncle Bob
No perspiration Bob… Take care and have fun with the machine…
If this solved the issue, please mark it ‘solved’…
Thanks for mentioning the fix… it nice when you can find the ‘fix’…
Good luck…
I’m new at this, how do I mark it “solved”?
Upper right of the edit window… I clicked on it… Should have let you…
