Text has gone crazy

I have updated to 1.7.01 and completed a couple of small projects with no problems. I have just tried to create a material cut test and the text has gone crazy. Random letters have circles around them and the text sizing is all over the place. I have killed the file, uninstalled and reinstalled Lightburn but the problem continues. On-screen is fine but the ‘issues’ show up in preview and the engraving.

I have tried to upload a screen print showing the preview but not sure it will show up at your end.

If you move the text to a different layer does the problem persist? Post a screenshot of your Lightburn window without the preview.

Can you share the text settings? Anychance you have Kerf enabled?

Also which Font are you using please?

Better yet if you could share your LBRN file here or to support@lightburnsoftware.com

Just running a job, I will get back to you. Interestingly, I had the text set to line and when I reset it to fill it behaved as it should…

Just running a job, will get back to you. Thanks.

Perhaps that layer has a huge Kerf setting.

All “crazy” letters look like they’re simple closed shapes, so the kerf will apply. The others are open, so the kerf doesn’t apply as you’d think:

Because LightBurn must determine the inside and outside of a shape in order to apply a Kerf Offset, this setting will only work with closed shapes.

I think you have sorted it, I checked the kerf level and it was -2, when I changed it to a positive value and previewed the job it looked normal again. The kerf value is not something I have looked at before, I guess I will have to do a bit of research! Many thanks.

Hi Gil, it appears to be sorted, kerf value was way out (another learning curve for me) and when corrected it sorted the font issue (thanks to Ednisley). Thank you anyway for responding.
