I have read about texting to a path on a spiral but it looks like it has not been answered. I would like to change the direction of the text. now it starts from the middle and works out, I want it to start from the outside and work inwards. Is there a way to do itt?
I haven’t tested this enough to see if the setting will stick but I did get the text to start at the outside end of a spiral.
With the text applied to the path (mine landed in the middle like yours).
Select just the text and in the text control box select Align X - Left.
Then edit the text and it will proceed along the spiral.
I also tested text where Align X - Left was selected. Then I applied it to the path. It started from the end where I started drawing the spiral.

On the spiral, when I import it and click on it, the little dash marks run from the center to the outside and that is how the text is on the path. It was not an alignment issue. I made several different spirals in Illustrator and was able to get the little dashes to run from the outside into the center and that worked for my text.
