Hello! I have a Sculpfun S30 with air assistant and Lightburn translated into Spanish. Everything was fine, until a message appeared in English, which said something related to the USB connection and without thinking I clicked on the first option on the left. Since then the Air assistant has not worked for me. I checked in Machine Adjustment and it is at M8. What can happen?

I have uninstalled Lightburn and returned to the previous version, I have removed the machine and reinstalled it, I have restarted the computer several times and it still does not work.

Show screenshots of the device settings and LightBurn window. Did you try sending M8 in the console window?

I don’t know how to do it in the console! I’ve attached a screenshot, tell me if it’s correct.

In the console window (which is active in your last screenshot), just type “m8” and press return key. Then the AA should turn on. To turn it off again, send “m9”.

Additionally, turn off “auto home at startup” in device settings but send $22=1 in the console window to enable the homing feature.

Most recommended settings are listed here: Setting up the software - Diode Laser Wiki

I have entered the M8 console and the air assistant does not work. I imagine it is a factory error.

Next check: remove the cover of the mainboard. Power on and send the M8 command. Do you see a blue LED turning on next to the air assist connector? Then it’s most likely the pump that is broken.
To verify this, you can plug the pump into the 12V socket and it should turn on.

The assistant connects to the “motherboard” of the machine. Are you referring to opening the motherboard of the sculpfun or the little box that has the pump? It’s under warranty…

You can open both. It does not void the warranty. There is no seal on either one. They will tell you to do the same once you talk to the support team.

Open the small black box and check if one of the chips looks burned. This sometimes happened, but it’s not very common.

Then open the metal cover. You mainboard should look similar to this:

Turn on the air assist function or send M8 in the console, then the blue LED (green circle) should turn on. M9 should turn it off.
Another test is to plug the white connector that sits in the Air assist port into the blue 12V labeled connector. If you turn on the power of the mainboard, the air assist should turn on all the time. That’s just a check if the pump is working at all.

If the pump is mechanically working, I suggest re-flashing the firmware to exclude a firmware malfunction.

Hello! I already did it, the pump base plate doesn’t look burned. And the motherboard of the machine, when I put command M8 a Red Light comes on, I’ll send you a photo if I did the 12v change correctly. Still the pump doesn’t work. It already tells me something. Thank you

Yes, that looks ok. So either the cable or the pump itself is broken. The rest of your laser is fine. You can send this information to support@sculpfun3d.com to get a replacement pump.

Thank you for your help and contribution. I have contacted the supplier.
A cordial greeting!
