This is usually due to a misconfiguration of your laser’s firmware. Specifically, there’s a setting in GRBL $32, which is ‘Laser Mode’. If this is set to ‘0’, then the laser will not turn off between line segments.

And if you see $32 set to 0, then we have found the problem! Entering $32=1 in the console then pressing enter will enable laser mode.
