The laser only fires at 50% in 60w mode, while in 40w mode it works normally.

Hello, I’m new to the forum and I’d like some help to solve a problem with my laser machine, a LaserTree k1 max 60w.

Until a while ago it worked normally in the 60w mode of the laser module, but recently, for no apparent reason, it can no longer fire the laser unless it is at 50% power in 60w mode, otherwise it follows the course normally but does not fire, and the message appears:
“Starting transmission
Layer C27
Connection lost
Transmission completed at 0:02
Grbl 1.1h [‘$’ for help]
[MSG: Wifi OFF]
[MSG:‘$H’|‘$X’ to unlock]
[MSG: Caution: Unlocked]”

However, if I use the 40w mode of the laser module, it works normally. Does anyone know what it could be? Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

The first response is you have an issue with the 60W module. I assume the 40 and 60W modules are separate or are you switching these on the same module to use either 40 or 60W?

It’s always nice to include a link to the module(s) you’re using, then we are not guessing.

From what you’ve supplied and if I read it correctly, the 40W module works, the 60W has an issue.

If it works with the 40W module, that would indicate the controller is working properly. Many times the bigger module draws more current than the controller can supply.

Is that 60W specifically for your machine and is plug compatible? If it’s the same module, it pretty much has to be the module. Control signals are the same either way.

:smiley_cat:

Assuming it’s this one:

Then the problem sounds very much like a failing power supply, because:

  • it worked normally in the 60w mode
  • it can no longer fire the laser unless it is at 50% power in 60w mode
  • use the 40w mode of the laser module, it works normally

It may also be a loose or failing connector in a cable between the power supply, controller, and the laser.

Make sure the cable connectors are firmly seated and not flopping around while the laser head moves. If that doesn’t improve things, then Lasertree (probably) owes you a replacement power supply.
