The preview is different from the design

I designed a Christmas tree ornament, in the shape of a Ukulele, for a friend. Once I had the design completed, I scaled it down to a size appropriate for an ornament. I went into preview to check it and found some cut lines that do not belong. In the pictures, the black layer is cut and the red is engrave. In the preview images you can see the extra cut lines.

The two circles were drawn with the circle tool and the extra curved lines would not affect my design, but the ones by the top right “tuning knob” (second picture) would. The outside cut lines are part of an image I imported and then traced. You can see the red cross hair at the end of the cut. I have not tried to run this job yet, I wanted to see what y’all had to say first.

It doesn’t look like it was made with the circle tool…

You can check to ensure this isn’t turned on…

Lead in/out will do something similar…

If you can post the .lbrn2 file, it would help us look at what you have.

I think this was wise. The cut will almost certainly match the Preview so you would have unwanted cuts in the final product.

@jkwilborn is likely dead on with pointing to the lead-in and lead-out features. I’ve noticed it can be a little tricky to get the correct settings there to not come in from the “wrong” side of the material. I think this is harder if you use the “Arc” type. Going to “Line” is typically more straightforward from my observations.

Either remove lead-in/out or adjust settings until you get an acceptable laser path.

You were exactly right. Some how, because I didn’t do it, lead in/lead out got turned on for the black layer. I decided to run the project on a piece of scrap ply anyway and they did not show up. After seeing your post about lead in/lead out I went and checked, sure enough, it was turned on. I used the circle tool on the left hand side to make the two “holes”, one for the lanyard and the other for the sound hole. That’s where I noticed the small curls that LI/LO was making. As soon as I turned it off they went away. Anyway, mystery solved, with your help, thank you both.
