There was a problem sending data to the laser. The Machine may be busy or paused

I have the X-carve 1000mmx1000mm with the 7w Jtech laser.

I just finished remolding my work space and reinstalled my machine and have it all hooked up. I did download the newest update and am having the error message appear on lightburn when I press the start button. “There was a problem sending data to the laser. The Machine may be busy or paused” When I go to the move tab the machine will not move or turn the laser on when I press the “fire” button. My laser does turn on when I press the manual laser button on my controller.

I did shut down the laser and connected my xcarve to Easel.com where I was able to get my machine to connect and move.

Are you actually connected to the machine? Do you see confirmation of it in the console window?
https://lightburnsoftware.github.io/NewDocs/ConnectingToTheLaser.html

It shows that it is connect in the window. I also tells me my laser is “Ready”
The fan on my laser is turned on and my laser turns on when I use the switch on the controller

Show me the contents of console window in a screen shot? For example, mine shows this:

Waiting for connection…

“Waiting for connection” means that you aren’t actually connected to the laser yet. Do you have other COM port choices? Is ‘Easel’ still running? (if so, LightBurn can’t communicate with the machine - it doesn’t have “call waiting” )

I did all of the com ports and it was the same result of waiting for connection. I had shut down easel and restarted light burn several times. I have also restarted my laptop.

  • Make sure the controller itself is powered (I know that sounds dumb, but it happens)

  • Try physically unplugging the USB connection, and re-connecting it, then right-click the ‘Devices’ button to tell LightBurn to retry the connection

  • Click the ‘Devices’ button, then click ‘Ok’ - that forces a re-scan of the COM ports, in case you connected the laser after you started LightBurn

Until you see something other than ‘Waiting for connection’ in that window, nothing else will work.

Thank you, I will check it out in the morning and finish trouble shooting

Thank you wire for the help.

I checked all my wires, downloaded the program, reinstalled the laser, and found it worked on com 5.
