Hi guys,
I would like to know if this controller in the picture attached is compatible with lightburn?
Anybody know what controller is that?
Cheers
That looks like a DSP controller. It’s a lot more complex than a GCode controller and requires a technical upgrade in LightBurn to connect and work.
The controller could be on the back of that screen, or in a box mounted in the service panel on the right-hand side of that control panel (or HMI).
A picture of the control box inside the service panel (including the model number) would help us confirm which controller it is (before you upgrade).
If you have your license key handy, and if you still have Free Trial days remaining on your Device, you should be able to deactivate your license, return to the Free Trial mode and test this hardware.
The Free Trial is a full version with access to all hardware modes, including DSP and Galvo.
Thanks for the reply,
I want to buy this machine but the owner doesn’t know much about it, he invited me to go and see it in person but it’s 400km drive from where I live.
I have Grbl licence and I used all the free trial period.
Do you know more or less by looking at the type of screen if this controller is a very old model?
I’m not familiar with that controller personally - have the owner look for a serial number from the inside electrical panel or under the display. Or, have them load up LightBurn and try to connect to the machine.
Yes that’s a good idea if he can test it with lightburn, but the man is old and recovering from a surgery, this is the machine I don’t know if that help in knowing what model it is
Does the current owner remember the name of the software used to drive this machine by chance?
That very much looks like a panel for a Leetro MPC6565:
So not compatible with LightBurn at this time.
He doesn’t remember the name of the software but he told he will go to his shop next week to check it
That’s the one, thanks for your help
The software is lasercut
Is it possible engraving fotos with this software ? Do you guys have plans to make this controller compatible?
Last one, I would appreciate if you guys can advise me to make a decision, currently I’m using a DIY 90w with Grbl controller, I spend half the time fixing it because i used cheap build set up (3d printed parts, 2040 rails, v wheel system on both x and y , mks dlc32, manually adjustable z bed 110cm by 70cm "a disaster " ).
Now I’m torn between
1- upgrading my DIY machine with linear guide rails, removing the bed mechanism and having a flat sturdy bed which can allow to put heavy material on top
2- buying this 100w leetro with adjustable z 60cm by 90cm bed size, auto focus, chiller, extractor, air pump for 1200€ plus shipping (650€)
3- buying this new vevor which comes with new ruida controller, integrated chiller, 800mm/s speed, 60 x90 cm bed size for 2900€ shipping included
Not sure where the best value is to be honest, Your advises can help choose the best option as I’m looking to not break the bank but at the same time spend some productive time.
Cheers
Unless you test drive the used machine and can confirm it’s in top condition, it’s likely best to assume it’s going to need a lot of time and money invested. Used machinery is a gamble on the best of days. Buying used machinery from a stranger far away and without testing yourself is a very bad gamble.
You already “know” it won’t run your preferred software, which means either learning new software (which may or may not do what you want) or retrofitting a new controller. Both options involve significant time. One adds significant money.
How many hours on the tube? It’s likely either fairly new or fairly old. Probably old.
Optics in good shape? Maybe. They’ll need cleaned and realigned once delivered anyway. Possibly replaced.
Lenses included suitable for your purpose? I bet the old man doesn’t know.
Etc.
Just my opinion, but the price doesn’t reflect the true cost.
He told me that the tube has been replaced not that long ago and the reason why he is selling the machine is because he retired duo to illness, someone who worked for him was the one in charge of the machine, he has no problem asking him to go where the machine is and test for me through video call. He also told me that the machine comes with a laptop with coreldraw installed. I can reduce the cost of shipment by 40% if I rent a big van for one day.
What’s holding me deciding is the risk you’ve mentioned of not having warranty, I cannot find any review about that new vevor machine with the chiller integrated and ruida.
I dismissed the option of upgrading my DIY laser
2900€ new
1500€ used with cw5000 chiller "If I can make some money out of it I can invest in ruida controller and upgrade my lightburn licence which will up the cost to 1900€
1000€ difference
If anybody came across a videos review of image engraving with leetro controller and a review of this model of vevor laser please share it here
Cheers
Yes, this is the Leetro control software and as identified, Leetro Controllers are not currently supported in LightBurn.
To assist in your evaluation of options, one not mentioned is replacing the motion controller itself. The following is a good write-up of what’s involved.
