Timeout on tool length probing operation

In the process of setting up my machine, I am in the of discovering the proper limits and other settings. When testing to set the tool length probing operation, I got an Alarm 5 which, as I learned was correct given wrong settings. The issue was after the alarm, MM remained frozen for a long time, 30 seconds or more (I didn’t time it) before reporting an operation timeout. Is there a way to shorten that time?

MillMage was likely waiting for a response from the controller.

Thanks Tim, which tool length probing settings did you have wrong? - I’ll try to reproduce the alarm in the same way and see what is happening…

I had the tool length probe search length too small and it generated a an alarm 5 I believe.

I tested this on my machine today using USB and network connections and wasn’t able to reproduce the freeze even though I was getting the alarm 5.

If you get a spare moment please turn on the debug log (Help>Enable Debug Log), and force the same error, close Millmage, find and attach the MillMageLog.txt from your Documents folder in an email to: support@millmagesoftware.com (Attn Nicholas, re timeout-on-tool-length-probing) - Thankyou!
