Tips to deep engrave on a rotary

We are about to try to engrave a 1.5" OD aluminum tube with text, engraving it at least 1mm or deeper. Has anyone tried deep rotary engravings before? Is there anything I should know? Any special setting tweaks?

Laser = 50 watt JPT fiber

Thanks!

It’s going to take a lot of passes to get 1mm. If the text is small enough you could try “Run Whole Shapes” and then a rotating cross hatch will help a lot. (Rotary sets still for each/entire letter)
If you are just scanning parallel to axis vary your splits and line increment.
Adding a “White” pass every 5 or 10 passes will help with depth also, as will a 100x100 or smaller lens.
