Tool Library entries can't be copied from 1 Tool Library to another

I seem to have a number of issues with Tool Libraries.

First issue: When selecting a Tool Library, its’ location is not stored in MM. When I want to go to that library, I have to start selecting the Path elements starting at C: as there does not seem to be a setting to tell MM the default location where my library(ies) can be found. In most software, you can set the default path/location eg: default location to save your work.

Second issue: Entries in one library cannot be copied to another library. MM allows me to copy design elements from one project and use them in another. It seems the most you can do is copy one tool in a category to another category and then edit the copy’s properties.

If anyone knows how these issues are handled, please let me know.

Thanks

Following.

I would like to see this option too, rather than having to recreate all the tools again.

I’d just be happy with being able to drag and drop to move a tool, or something like alt drag and drop to make a copy (easy enough to remember after using Illustrator) within the same library as a start. Selecting the tool, making a copy, editing it and then moving it just adds steps.

can you add a bit more clafication to this please, to see if I’m on same page

are you trying to create different libraries or folders inside tool library’s eg ply, mdf, birch , soft pvc , hardwood folders and than drag and drop (the same tool) into each folder or library. Why would you want the same tool in duplicate or even quadruple in the tool libraries? why do you want multiple library’s

is it to set f/s , ramp etc per material ?

If the above is what your trying to achieve

each to their own, but this is what i find the best in MM

originally when starting with MM back in RC2 that’s how i thought it was the way to do it, till it became such a birds nest I deleted it all and realised I was looking at it all wrong

One tool library - tool type folders - enter tool once, forget about tool library, only time i ever go to tool library Is if I buy a new/different tool or when a new update id do a quick check and than save a copy apart from that never go near it

i set the recommended s/f etc from manufacture or f/s calculator for the tool and than adjust them in saved operations

i house everything in operation library for different speeds /feeds material types etc

when starting a new job i use op library to chose tool with saved s/f for material type or close enough, than go into operation tab to fine tune if need be,

and than if want rename it and save as new op in op lib , so cuts work flow easily by half, if not more
