TopWisdom TL-A1vibrations on slow speeds (5mm/sec)

I have a Topwisdom TL-A1 on a DIY CO2 laser. I have a problem with motor vibrations and noise when cutting at slow speeds, like 5mm/s. When it runs faster, it goes smoothly.

The drivers are TB6600s on 1/32 micro-stepping. I’ve played with the current settings and with jerk/acceleration, but had no luck with that. The cut is clean, but it still vibrates.

Before this controller, I had it running on Arduino + RAMPS and it worked well at slow speeds, so I don’t think it is a mechanical problem with the axis. Has anyone had similar problems with the TL-A1?

Hi @petvo

Not having had this specific situation myself, I shall give my 2c worth; this sounds like low-speed stepper resonance, not a mechanical issue.

Running TB6600-sized drivers at 1/32 microstepping often makes low-speed vibration worse, especially at very low step rates, such as 5 mm/s.

Try reducing microstepping to 1/16 or 1/8 and test again.

The fact that it ran smoothly on Arduino + RAMPS doesn’t rule this out — different controllers generate very different step timing at low speeds.

Thank you for help. I will try reducing microstepping to 1/16 or 1/8
