Trace Image Help!

I am trying to trace this image. Using the default 0 cutoff and 128 threshold gets MOST of the image but not all. So I try doing another layer overtop of it but every time I try to select the area I need (under the dragon and around the globe) it traces it with a container around it that I cant get rid of. I am unsure how to trace with multiple layers in general. Any help or input is appreciated!

Try this. I traced the image and set the threshold to 180. Then I duplicated the blue layer and changed to a different layer in line mode. I turned off the blue layer, selected both other layers, opened boolean assistant and chose the correct subtract mode. That’s how I got these results. I think it’s what you’re after.

Hmm maybe i’m missing something. When I go to the preview this is what I am showing which is not quite what I am looking for. Layer 01 is pretty close it is just missing the line around the globe at the bottom and the line below the dragon.

Maybe the trace missed that portion. You will have to play with the settings to get the exact parts you want. I was just showing the process.

As far as preview not showing, that’s normal. You would need to set the shadow layer to a lower setting to differentiate the layers. Preview won’t show that.

Okay I’ll keep trying different things. I didn’t know about the Boolean assistant until you mentioned it so thank you for that!

I played with it a little more this morning. Going with an even higher threshold included the entire shadow layer. You’ll get it.
