Trace image software question

Hi all

I am seeking advice on software for very effective Image tracing software. I find lightburn great in most cases and may still need more learning with its capabilities but when it comes to selecting shades areas ans less well defined or sharp/contrasting parts of images I cant get it right.
I have Gimp but found out its not vector type software so less useful for tracing.

Try this. You can convert a jpg to an svg file.

Here’s another one i have used

You can use trace multiple times separating vectors. Most people don’t realize you can run trace and target specific areas.

Gimp is image manipulation software, I use it quite often for removing backgrounds and photo targeted areas. It’s not really vector software.

Thank you loren, I’ll look into those.

Good point jack, Truth is I just haven’t given it enough time and focus…got to put the time in to get the quality out! Which I have done in some areas but that one is developing slow.
I have targeted areas and know about stacking but its not comming together for me yet…No specific style/outcome in mind and lack of patience.

Inkscape is vector software, has a center-line trace tool, and will likely produce better results when starting from a good-quality image.

When you have a generic picture of dubious quality, however, manipulating it in GIMP can produce an image better suited for tracing, because GIMP works with raster images.

Thanks Ed

I think your spot on concerning the image quality.
