After loading a file, when I hit the start button I receive an error. It says: “there was a problem sending data to the laser. The machine may be paused or busy.” Everything is current, as far as updates, I just loaded the program a couple days ago. I have shut down all files except my browser. I tried to attach a picture of the open software and the error message, but it didn’t load properly.
What’s happening on the machine itself? Have you tried power-cycling/resetting it?
Is there any info in the console window in LightBurn that says anything that might be a clue, such as an alarm state or that it’s already attempting to cut a job?
What laser are you using? And has it worked before this? If so, has anything changed?
Have you selected the COM port that your laser is connected to, and do you see communication between LightBurn and the laser controller before you try to run a file? If you don’t, you’re not connected yet.
In this window you might see ‘Choose’ here - click it, and try each option in turn until you see something in the console that looks like they’re talking to each other:
This is a screenshot of what I get when I hit the start button.
I have downloaded the driver, the software version is current, in both Lightburn and XCS, I have the right COM port selected, I have my laser selected, my laptop “dings” when I turn the laser on. I forgot, it did move once when I hit the “home” button on the move panel, the laser head did move to the upper left corner and I haven’t been able to get it to do anything since.
Then you’re not connected to the laser. If you click where it says “COM3” do you have other choices? Are you still running other software that’s connected to the laser? (only one can talk to it at a time)
