Trouble setting up chuck rotary on CO2 laser

problem setting up rotary.
just installed my new chuck rotary on my 80 watt CO2 laser with Ruida controller. Set steps to 12000 per rev. made and tried framing. doesnt matter what value I put for the chuck diamater or steps per rev. the Y axis ends up at same place where I started from, but the wierd thing is my X axis also movel the length of the X axis (far to left) and returns for no reason, so to problems

  1. not sure why the steps changing does not alter the complete revolution of the Y axis
  2. why does the X axis move ?

How did you come up with the 12000steps/rotation? These should come from your motor driver if you’re not doing anything exotic.

Might want to give has a screenshot of the rotary gui where it’s set up.

Don’t know your machine… how to you attach the rotary to the machine? Usually it uses the Y axes, so the X should not move when test is asserted.

I could not get the steps from person I bought it from, just took a chance and entered 12000 steps from another youtuber with a very similar looking rotary setup with chuck The machine is a used 80 watt chinese Red Sail with Ruida controller. I use Lightburn and send the frame command direct to controller through my computer as the Ruida controller doesnt respond to the rotary signals. I have a small switch which I toggle over to change from the “Y” axisl to rotary control and that seems to work fine. I would have to try to get a screenview for more info
